Mobern Lighting
Established in 1944, Mobern Lighting Company has been a venerable designer/manufacturer of a wide range of industrial/commercial state of the art, energy efficient lighting fixtures and solutions in Howard County, Maryland since 1957. Mobern is now located in an 80,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art manufacturing/distribution facility in Jessup, MD. Over the past 3 years, Mobern has doubled its workforce and increased sales by over 100%. Mobern has also expanded nationally and now has 30 sale representative agencies and 7 stocking warehouse throughout the continental United States. Every day Mobern is given a new and unique opportunity to supply its products because of its in-house design and engineering capabilities and flexible manufacturing operations which, when combined to address end-user requirements, yield energy efficient lighting solutions in a timely and cost-effective way.
Mobern prides itself on being a valued member of the local Maryland business community. It is a member of the Fuel Fund of Maryland, Maryland Clean Energy Center, the Baltimore-Washington and Howard County Chambers of Commerce, the Howard County Technology Council and an industry partner with the Independents Electrical Contractors Association – (Chesapeake Chapter) and an active participant in the Governor’s Workforce Investment Board Energy Industry Initiative (formed mainly for Green Jobs creation). More recently, Mobern has enlisted to become a manufacturing sponsor of the MEP “boot camp” initiative for new hire placements. Mobern is also a staunch supporter of the SAVE Coalition and U.S. Green Building Council. Mobern was also pleased to have been selected as a test company in the BRAC Business Initiative (co-sponsored by Congressman Elijah Cummings, Senator Ben Cardin
and County Executive Ken Ulman) and a driving force behind the start-up of the Baltimore Washington Chamber of Commerce Green Alliance Committee. Bill
