Aim the fixture up and slightly toward the room center. If the ceiling is under 9 ft, favor the wider setback and lower output; short throw distances amplify every imperfection in the drywall.

Example: a 40 ft cove at 3.0 W per foot is 120 W; adding 20 percent brings the requirement to 144 W, so spec a 150 W unit, or split the cove into two runs on two smaller drivers to keep wire runs short and voltage drop negligible.
