Efficiency Vermont Enhances Lighting Rebate Program
Efficiency Vermont, Vermont's statewide provider of energy efficiency services, has announced a new program promoting the replacement of T12 and HID High-Bay lighting with more efficient technology. The newLIGHT program is being made available from April 1st to December 31st, 2010, and is offering businesses significantly enhanced rebates for upgrading their old T12 fluorescent and HID high-bay lighting systems to more efficient equipment. This comes as the Department of Energy has passed new regulations that will ban the manufacture of T12 fluorescent lamps for sale in the US after July 14, 2012.
To qualify for the enhanced rebates offered through the newLIGHT program, business customers must work with a contractor, distributor or other lighting professional that will evaluate the facilities and submit program forms to the Efficiency Vermont offices. Projects eligible for the newLIGHT Enhanced Rebates Program include:
- T12 Upgrades and Controls
- HID High Bay Upgrades and Controls
- Exit Sign Upgrades
- Project must affect fewer than 200 fixtures.
- Project must include upgrades of T12 and/or HID High Bay fixtures.
- Project must include occupancy sensors on all installed fixtures in all applicable spaces, where cost effective.
- Project must be a retrofit of an existing lighting system. New construction projects are not eligible.
