LED panel lights and lay-in troffers are the workhorse of commercial drop ceiling lighting. They drop into standard 2x4, 2x2, and 1x4 T-bar grid openings, wire directly to a branch circuit, and deliver high-efficiency illumination across offices, classrooms, retail stores, and medical offices.

Flat-panel LED fixtures use edge-lit or backlit diffuser technology to create a uniform, glare-managed appearance. Backlit panels generally deliver higher lumen output and better uniformity; edge-lit panels tend to be thinner and lighter. Both types have largely replaced fluorescent T8 and T5HO fixtures in new commercial construction due to lower energy consumption and longer service life.

Key specs to consider: lumens per watt (80 to 130+ LPW depending on grade), color rendering index (CRI 80 standard, CRI 90 available), color temperature (typically 3500K, 4000K, or 5000K), and dimming compatibility.
