Recessed can lights provide clean, low-profile downlighting for offices, retail spaces, hotels, healthcare facilities, and residential projects where ceiling-mounted fixtures need to disappear into the architecture. This section covers recessed housings and matching trim in sizes from 3-inch through 10-inch to suit the full range of commercial and residential applications.
Housing selection depends on ceiling type, insulation contact rating, and whether the installation is new construction or remodel. New construction housings attach to framing before drywall; remodel housings install through the finished ceiling hole. IC-rated (insulation-contact) housings are required where insulation will be in direct contact with the fixture. Wet location ratings apply to bathrooms and exterior soffits.
Trim rings define the fixture appearance and distribution. Open trim, baffled trim, eyeball adjustable trim, and pinhole aperture trims address different aesthetic and photometric requirements. Matching housing and trim from the same manufacturer ensures proper fitment and consistent depth from ceiling to trim face.
