Ten-inch recessed can lights are specified for large-aperture, high-ceiling applications where smaller fixtures would either under-illuminate the space or create an overly dense ceiling layout. Common environments include grand hotel lobbies, airport terminal areas, convention center pre-function spaces, and large retail anchor stores with ceiling heights of 15 feet and above.

At 10 inches, the housing accepts high-output LED modules or PAR56 and R40 lamp types capable of producing 1,500 to 3,000 lumens, depending on the module and reflector combination. This output range replaces 150W to 300W incandescent or halogen sources, substantially reducing energy load on circuits that serve large-format recessed layouts.

Ten-inch housings are less commonly stocked than 6-inch and 8-inch sizes; verify product availability and lead times before committing to a project specification. Retrofit modules for existing 10-inch housings are available and are often the faster path for renovation projects already built around this size.
