R and BR CFL lamps bring compact fluorescent technology to reflector-style applications, providing an energy-efficient replacement for incandescent R and BR lamps in recessed downlights, open pendant fixtures, and surface-mount applications. The R designation refers to the reflector shape with a relatively flat face, while BR (bulged reflector) versions have a slightly extended, curved face that produces a softer, more diffused flood beam. Common sizes include R20, BR30, and BR40, which correspond to 4", 5", and 6" recessed can fixtures, respectively.

RelightDepot carries R and BR CFL lamps in wattages that replace 60W to 100W incandescent equivalents, with color temperatures of 2700K and 3000K for warm residential and commercial environments, and 4100K options for cooler office and institutional settings. These lamps remain a useful maintenance option for existing incandescent or first-generation CFL recessed installations before a full LED conversion is undertaken. All models are self-ballasted with standard E26 medium-base sockets for direct retrofit.
