Three-inch recessed can lights are the smallest standard size in commercial lighting and are specified where ceiling space is tight or where a discreet fixture footprint is the priority. Common applications include jewelry showcases and display case lighting, retail accent walls, hotel bathroom vanities, and restaurant bar-top illumination where fixture size needs to disappear into the ceiling design.
Because of their compact aperture, 3-inch recessed fixtures produce a more concentrated beam than larger sizes. Typical LED output runs 300 to 500 lumens, suited for accent and highlighting rather than primary area illumination. Tight beam angles are available for precise product highlighting; wider distributions are available where wash-and-fill is the goal.
