Six-inch recessed can lights are the most widely specified size in commercial construction and renovation. They balance light output, ceiling aperture, and product availability in a way no other size matches. Offices, healthcare facilities, retail stores, hotel guestrooms, education buildings, and virtually every other commercial occupancy type uses 6-inch recessed as part of its standard lighting layout.

Current LED modules for 6-inch cans deliver 700 to 1,200 lumens and replace 65W to 100W incandescent equivalents at a fraction of the wattage. IC-rated and non-IC housings are both available; new construction units attach to framing, while remodel (retrofit) units clip into existing ceiling cutouts for renovation work without attic access.

The 6-inch platform also has the deepest selection of compatible trim: baffle, reflector, adjustable-eyeball, gimbal, pinhole, shower, and wet-location trims are all readily available. Dimming compatibility, color temperature selection, and CRI ratings should be confirmed against the specific module and driver combination before specifying in volume.
