LED drivers are the power supply components that regulate voltage and current to LED light sources, ensuring stable and safe operation. Unlike incandescent lamps that connect directly to line voltage, LEDs require a driver to convert AC power to the specific DC voltage and current levels the LED modules need. Selecting the correct driver is critical to both performance and fixture longevity, as a mismatched driver can cause premature failure, flickering, or reduced light output over time.

Drivers fall into two main categories. Constant current drivers supply a fixed output current (expressed in milliamps) while allowing the voltage to vary, and they are used with the majority of commercial LED fixtures and downlights. Constant voltage drivers supply a fixed DC output voltage while allowing the current to vary, and they are typically used with LED strip lighting and signage applications. Both types are available in dimmable versions compatible with 0-10V, TRIAC, and DALI dimming protocols.
