SCR Round Pendant Series, MCTP5 model from Westgate
The SCR series is Westgate's architectural round suspended pendant platform built for commercial and hospitality interiors where the architect or engineer specifies a single pendant family across multiple zones, ceiling heights, and output levels without a separate submittal for each configuration. The conventional approach to this problem is a different fixed-wattage, fixed-CCT catalog number for every zone, which means a new purchase order every time the photometric gets revised. The MCTP5 model is built differently. Five diameters, 16 inches through 48 inches, share one driver platform with field-selectable wattage and 5-CCT selectability from 2700K to 5000K on every model. The same consistent canopy and suspension profile runs across the full size range. Whether the scope calls for a 30W pendant in a private office corridor or a 200W fixture in a high-ceiling atrium lobby, the EC submits one product family and adjusts output and color temperature at commissioning without touching the purchase order.
For hospitality and healthcare administrative projects where the spec calls for architectural round pendants at varying ceiling heights and wattages across zones, the SCR MCTP5 covers the full scope without requiring separate submittals for each configuration.
What Every SCR MCTP5 Fixture Has in Common
The MCTP5 models are new additions to Westgate's SCR architectural round suspended pendant line. Before getting into how the five sizes differ, here is what remains constant across all models in the family.
Every SCR MCTP5 runs on a universal 120-277V driver. No voltage selection at order time, and no field wiring change is needed when a project carries mixed branch circuit voltages across floors or zones. The driver is 0-10V dimmable on all models. Verify with the EOR whether that satisfies the dimming requirement under the applicable edition of ASHRAE 90.1 for the occupancy and jurisdiction. The housing is aluminum with a sandy white finish and a polycarbonate lens. Rated IP20, so this is a dry indoor fixture only.
Efficacy is rated at 100 LM/W across the full range. CRI is 80 or better. Power factor is above 0.95. Westgate rates the SCR at 50,000 hours and backs it with a 5-year warranty. Confirm included components and mounting hardware against the spec sheet before committing warranty language to a submittal.
A consistent canopy and pendant cable profile across all five sizes means that if the architect revises the fixture diameter mid-design, the rough-in and ceiling penetration may not need to change. On multi-zone TI jobs and hotel renovations where design revisions arrive after rough-in has started, that is worth knowing at the bid stage.
Pro Tip
When submitting the SCR MCTP5 as a basis-of-design or approved equal, one submittal package covers all five sizes. Pull the spec sheet, IES file, and photometric data for each diameter you are quoting. If the spec calls for both 24 in. and 36 in. fixtures, both fall under the same Westgate SCR family, which shortens the submittal review cycle compared to submitting two separate product lines.
The Five MCTP5 Models: Size, Wattage, and Output
The five models span 16 in. to 48 in. (406 mm to 1,219 mm) in diameter. Each size ships with its own wattage range, sized to the output typically needed at that fixture diameter and mounting height. All five share the same 5-CCT driver, covering 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, and 5000K selectable in the field.
| Catalog No. | Diameter | Wattage Options | Approx. Max Output | CCT |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SCR-16D-MCTP5-D | 16 in. (406 mm) | 10/15/20/25/30W | ~3,000 LM | 5-CCT selectable |
| SCR-18D-MCTP5-D | 18 in. (457 mm) | 15/20/25/30/35W | ~3,500 LM | 5-CCT selectable |
| SCR-24D-MCTP5-D | 24 in. (610 mm) | 30/35/40/45/50W | ~5,000 LM | 5-CCT selectable |
| SCR-36D-MCTP5-D | 36 in. (914 mm) | 40/60/80/100/120W | ~12,000 LM | 5-CCT selectable |
| SCR-48D-MCTP5-D | 48 in. (1,219 mm) | 120/140/160/180/200W | ~20,000 LM | 5-CCT selectable |
All models: 100 LM/W rated, 5-CCT selectable (2700K to 5000K), 0-10V dimmable, 120-277V universal. Lumen output approximated at 100 LM/W from rated wattage at maximum setting. Verify against Westgate spec sheets and IES files for photometric submittals.
Uplight Kit Accessories
Three accessory SKUs cover the uplight kit option across the full size range. These are ordered separately from the fixture.
| Accessory SKU | Fits |
|---|---|
| SCR-1618D-ULK | 16 in. and 18 in. SCR fixtures |
| SCR-24D-ULK | 24 in. SCR fixtures |
| SCR-3648D-ULK | 36 in. and 48 in. SCR fixtures |
Selecting the Right Model for the Job
The engineer or designer drives size selection. Their photometric layout sets the fixture diameter and mounting height, and the foot-candle targets determine which wattage range is needed. The EC's job is to match the catalog number to the spec, or to identify where a substitution is viable and submit for approval.
The MCTP5 field-selectable wattage matters most in two scenarios. First, on open specs or design-assist projects where the lighting designer has not yet locked the wattage but the EC needs to order material ahead of a ceiling-close milestone. Order the right diameter and set the wattage at commissioning. Second, on value-engineering submittals, one SKU that can be set to the specified output makes the substitution argument cleaner than matching a fixed-wattage catalog number exactly.
Here is how the size range typically maps to space type and ceiling height in commercial work. The 16 in. and 18 in. models (10W to 35W) suit lower-ceiling environments: private offices, conference rooms, and hotel corridors with 9 ft. to 12 ft. (2.7 m to 3.7 m) ceilings where a compact fixture diameter fits the design intent and wattage requirements are modest. The 24 in. model (30W to 50W, approximately 5,000 LM max) covers mid-range commercial spaces including open-plan offices, hotel lobbies with standard floor-to-floor heights, and reception areas. The 36 in. model (40W to 120W) steps up to larger lobbies, food service, and atrium spaces with 14 ft. to 20 ft. (4.3 m to 6.1 m) ceilings. The 48 in. model (120W to 200W) is for high-ceiling atriums and large-volume public spaces where the fixture has to carry significant vertical distance and still deliver meaningful foot-candle levels at the floor. Photometric submittals are required before this fixture can be approved for spaces above 20 ft. (6.1 m).
CCT is set in the spec. Where the spec locks a single CCT, confirm at submittal that the MCTP5 covers it (it does, across the full 2700K to 5000K range). Where CCT is open, or where the owner or interior designer is still deciding, the field selectability removes that variable from the procurement timeline.
Uplight Kits: Ordering and Rough-In Coordination
Whether to include uplighting is a design-stage decision, not a field call. The interior designer or architect specifies whether the fixture is down-only or up/down based on the lighting concept. If uplighting is in the spec, order the corresponding kit at the same time as the fixtures. The uplight circuit needs to be roughed in at the fixture location. If rough-in has already been completed without provisions for the uplight wiring, adding the kit after the ceiling is closed requires a change order.
Pro Tip
If the spec shows an up/down pendant and the uplight kit is called out as a separately furnished accessory, confirm with the GC that rough-in provisions for the uplight control wiring are on the drawings before the ceiling is closed. Catching it at rough-in is a 15-minute coordination call. Catching it after the ceiling is finished is a change order and a schedule hit.
Installation Considerations
The SCR pendant hangs from a canopy at the ceiling via a stem or aircraft cable suspension. Standard pendant rough-in applies across all five models, but several points are worth flagging before wire pull and ceiling close.
Structural attachment: the 36 in. and 48 in. models carry meaningful fixture weight. Confirm the structural attachment point before setting the canopy, particularly in open-web steel joist construction where a hard point may need to be added. Coordinate with the structural drawings and the manufacturer's installation instructions before rough-in.
Branch circuit voltage: the 120-277V range is universal across all five models. No voltage tap or field wiring change is required. Verify actual voltage at the panel and confirm it falls within range before rough-in.
0-10V dimming wiring: the MCTP5 requires a separate low-voltage 0-10V control circuit in addition to the line-voltage feed. Phase-cut dimmers, including TRIAC and ELV types, are not compatible with 0-10V drivers. If the panel schedule or controls spec calls for a conventional dimmer station, flag it before rough-in and coordinate with the electrical engineer. This is a common oversight on jobs where the EC inherited a rough-in spec without detailed controls callouts.
Pendant drop length: verify the cable drop against the ceiling height and the photometric design before ordering material. Standard cable drops may need to be adjusted for tall atrium applications on the 36 in. and 48 in. models. Confirm lead time on custom cable lengths if needed.
IP20 rating: interior dry locations only. Do not use in covered open-air applications, parking structures, or anywhere subject to moisture. If the spec calls for a damp-rated pendant, this fixture does not qualify.
Where the SCR MCTP5 Gets Specified
The SCR MCTP5 shows up on projects where the spec calls for an architectural round pendant with multi-CCT flexibility and output scalable to the space. A few project types account for most of the volume.
Class-A office TI and multi-tenant commercial are the most consistent use cases. The same fixture family can run through open offices (typically 3500K or 4000K, higher wattage), private offices and corridors (3000K, lower wattage), and conference rooms (3500K, mid-wattage), all under one catalog number with field-set wattage and CCT. That simplifies the submittal package and keeps the reorder story clean for the building owner.
Hotel renovation and new construction: corridor specs often call for 2700K to 3000K, while meeting rooms and pre-function areas typically run 3500K to 4000K. Running one fixture family across both zones keeps submittals clean and commissioning straightforward.
Healthcare administrative and non-clinical reception: CRI 80 and IP20 suit office-type healthcare environments such as administrative wings, waiting areas, and registration. Clinical and procedural spaces carry different fixture specifications and should be evaluated separately.
Education administrative and library spaces: verify local energy code requirements before ordering or submitting. ASHRAE 90.1 and some state energy codes require occupancy sensing or daylight harvesting in these occupancies, which adds a controls layer on top of the 0-10V dimming the MCTP5 already supports.
Food service and hospitality adjacencies: the 36 in. and 48 in. models carry enough output to serve as the primary ambient source in dining rooms, lobbies, and bar areas where the designer is using a round pendant as the key architectural lighting element.
