LED Mini Cutoff Wall Packs: Westgate LMW Series

A 40W or 60W wall pack over a service door does more than light the door. It casts a glare across the lot and emits more light than a small entry needs. The LMW mini cutoff wall pack line exists for the jobs where a full-size wall pack is the wrong fixture: entryways, alleys, loading docks, pathways, balconies, and small retail bays. It delivers 1300 lumens at 12W in a die-cast housing about the footprint of a large deadbolt plate. Season 2 pricing on the line is now live in the RelightDepot trade Hotsheet for logged-in accounts. The Platform

All nine SKUs in the LMW-12W line share the same build, which is the real argument for standardizing on it across a job or a portfolio: learn the fixture once, install it the same way everywhere. The housing is die-cast aluminum with a powder-coat finish, available in bronze, white, or black. The lens is tempered glass, not polycarbonate, which holds up better against UV yellowing and impact over a 70,000-hour rated life. The LED engine is a Lumileds Lexeon 3030 high-flux chip, CRI 80 minimum, with a 100° x 100° beam spread suited to a wall-mount throw. Power factor runs above 0.9, input voltage is 120 to 277V, and the fixture carries a 7-year warranty with a UL wet-location listing at IP54.

Operating temperature range is rated -40°F to 104°F, which covers most of the continental U.S. without a special cold-weather driver call-out, worth noting on a northern job where a lesser fixture's driver would need that spec'd separately. For a GC holding multiple trades to a tight schedule, one housing platform across CCTs and finishes means fewer submittal variations to track and less chance a mismatched fixture holds up the punch list at closeout.

The Range

The line runs one wattage, 12W, across three color temperatures and three finishes, for nine total SKUs. Efficacy shifts slightly by CCT, landing between 125 and 135 LPW depending on the option selected. Here is the full range:

Where the Mini Format Fits, and Where It Doesn't

The applications on the cut sheet read like a checklist of small-scale exterior spots: entryways, alleys, loading docks, pathways, parking areas, balconies, terraces, and small shops. What they have in common is a short throw distance and a mounting height under roughly 10 to 12 feet. That's the range where 1300 lumens reads as adequate light rather than glare. On new construction, the lighting designer or engineer sets the fixture type and lumen package in the spec; the contractor's job is matching what's called out or submitting an approved equal if the spec is open or a substitution is on the table. On retrofit and MRO work, a facility manager or property manager scoping a tenant entry or a strip-mall alley is often the one deciding whether an oversized existing wall pack gets replaced with something sized to the space.

Where the mini format is not the right call: anything mounted above roughly 14 to 16 feet, wide parking areas that need real throw, or any application where the spec calls for a higher lumen package to hit a foot-candle target. Swapping a mini fixture in for a full-size one without checking the photometric target against the plan is the kind of substitution that gets flagged at inspection or during a lighting-level walk.

Factory-Installed Options

Three factory options show up across the LMW-12W line: a button photocell (OPT-PC-B), an emergency battery backup pack (OPT-EM-FM1OD), and an integrated sensor (OPT-SEN-LMW-3MRLV-5). Ordering the option factory-installed skips a field retrofit and keeps the warranty on one part number instead of splitting it between the fixture and an add-on component.

• Photocell (OPT-PC-B): runs the fixture on dusk-to-dawn operation without a separate photocell receptacle mounted to the wall. Useful where the spec calls for automatic operation, and there's no controls package tied into the panel.
• Emergency battery backup (OPT-EM-FM1OD): a built-in battery pack for egress continuity if the space is on a life-safety lighting plan. Confirm required runtime and foot-candle levels against the code section cited in the spec before subbing this in for a dedicated emergency fixture; a battery pack option on a wall pack isn't automatically a substitute for a listed emergency unit on every job.
• Integrated sensor (OPT-SEN-LMW-3MRLV-5): adds motion response to the fixture itself. Check the spec sheet for detection range and low-voltage wiring requirements before pricing it into a bid; sensor coverage on a wall-mounted fixture is tighter than a dedicated ceiling- or pole-mounted sensor.

None of these options change the base footprint or the mounting pattern, so a job that starts with plain fixtures can add options on a later phase without a different rough-in.

Sourcing and Installation Notes

At 5-1/8" x 5" x 2-3/4", the LMW housing is compact enough that a standard 4" round or octagon box behind it gives more room to land wire nuts than the housing itself does. Pull the whip long enough to work outside the fixture before final connections; the wiring compartment on a mini wall pack is tighter than on a full-size housing and doesn't leave much room to fish wire once the fixture is on the wall.

Check the gasket seat on the tempered glass lens before final tightening. On a wet-location fixture this size, over-torquing the lens screws is a common way to compromise the gasket seal without cracking the glass, and it won't show up as a leak until the first hard rain.

On stock: nine SKUs across three CCTs and three finishes means lead time can vary by combination, especially on less common finishes.
