How to pick within the family
Picking the right size is usually settled before this product ever comes up. The ceiling grid dictates 1x4, 2x2, or 2x4 fixture openings, so that decision is already made by the time you're sourcing. What's left is matching wattage and CCT to the spec, or on retrofit work without a formal spec, to what the space actually needs.
On new construction or a designed renovation, the engineer or designer sets CCT and target foot-candles in the plans; your job is to order the panel configured to match, or submit this as an approved equal if the spec calls out a different manufacturer. On retrofit and relamp work where there's no active spec, the facility manager or owner is the one deciding CCT, and their answer is usually driven by what's already installed in adjacent rooms rather than a fresh lighting design.
Battery backup versions come into play on egress paths and any space where the fixture also has to cover emergency lighting duty: corridors, stairwells, exam rooms. Standard offices and classrooms without an egress requirement on this particular fixture typically run the non-battery catalog number.
