RelightDepot’s Highlights from LIGHTFAIR International 2013

RelightDepot’s Highlights from LIGHTFAIR International 2013
Last week, RelightDepot attended LIGHTFAIR International, the world’s largest lighting show and conference, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was our first year attending the show, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. The trade show floor is massive, and this year they added Hall F, a second hall downstairs with additional exhibitors. We definitely didn’t get to see everything, but we did our best to explore the exhibitors’ booths and take in some Philly culture by night. Here are some of the highlights of our favorite lighting fixtures from the trade show and conference: The first thing we made sure to do was to meet with all of our existing manufacturers. We noticed that many, if not all, were focused on showing off the new additions to their LED lines. Here’s Industrial Lighting Product’s new 400W LED high bay.

This fixture is designed to replace 1,000W HID high bay fixtures on a one-for-one basis. Look for a more thorough review of all of their LED fixtures coming soon. In the Xeleum Lighting reception, we saw some good-looking LED troffers, high bays, and smart stairwell lights. We’re currently working on adding all of the Xeleum products to RelightDepot.com as we speak.

We had a chance to meet with new partners as well. We’ll be adding a whole line of commercial-grade recessed downlights and commercial track lighting soon. We’re also working with two new sales groups that will target turn-key lighting retrofit projects. EcoInsight was demonstrating their energy upgrade sales tool. I haven’t used this tool yet, but it certainly looks like a huge time saver.

We were very impressed by some of the booth designs. For example, the Philips and GE booths were huge while Juno Lighting’s oxygen bar was a breath of fresh air and an interesting way to draw people to the booth.

In between our days walking the floor, we had some time to check out the iconic Liberty Bell and, of course, grab a cheese steak at Pat’s King of Steaks. While waiting for our food order, we noted the LED Canopy fixtures with LED linear vapor tights that really lit up the place.

Geno’s Steaks uses the 3 lamp T8 vapor tight fixtures. We spent the last day checking out commercial and industrial lighting control systems, where we saw some innovative products by Digital Lumens and Daintree Networks. These two companies offer more than just control solutions and we’re looking forward to working together on future projects. Overall, the show was fascinating and we look forward to going back next year. RelightDepot hopes to see you in Las Vegas for LIGHTFAIR International 2014!
