FDLO Series Oval Flush Mount

FDLO Series Oval Flush Mount

The FDLO Series ships as a 32.5-inch oval double-ring flush mount with a field-select switch that sets 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, or 5000K on install day. Every finish shares the same 48W DOB driver, IP44 damp-location housing, and 120-degree beam. Miss the CCT call before the corridor ceiling closes up, and the fix is a flip of a switch on install day, not a return authorization.

Two kinds of orders keep this series moving: a property management team standardizing corridor lighting across a multifamily portfolio where every building was built to a different CCT decades apart, and an electrical contractor bidding a hospitality or healthcare renovation that needs one fixture to cover a dry interior corridor and a damp breezeway off the same submittal. The FDLO Series covers both conditions on one IP44-rated platform, ships in matte black or brushed nickel, and carries a 50,000-hour rated life with a 5-year warranty.

What the FDLO Series Is

The FDLO is a surface-mount, low-profile decorative ceiling fixture built around an iron housing and a polycarbonate lens, running on a DOB (driver-on-board) design at 120VAC. It ships in two finishes, matte black and brushed nickel, under the same core spec.

The IP44 rating is worth flagging on its own. Most decorative flush mounts at this price point are dry-location only, which forces a separate spec for anything near an exterior corridor, a covered breezeway, or a laundry or pool-adjacent common area. One fixture covering both dry and damp locations is a real simplification on a submittal, not a marketing point.

Where the FDLO Series Fits on a Job

Fixture selection for a project like this sits with the designer, architect, or owner's rep, not the contractor. Where the FDLO series earns its spot on a spec is in mid-rise multifamily and light commercial interiors that need a decorative look without the cost or ceiling work of a recessed downlight: apartment and condo corridors, lobbies, hotel corridors and pre-function space, medical office and healthcare corridors, school administrative areas, and conference rooms. The low-profile double-ring design reads as an upgrade over a standard flush disc without moving into pendant or chandelier territory, and the damp rating means the same fixture can run from a dry interior corridor straight into a covered breezeway or an exterior-adjacent common area without a second SKU. On a job like a corridor refresh in an occupied building, it is usually the facility manager or property manager who scopes which corridors get upgraded and sets the budget; the designer or owner's rep locks the fixture and finish, and the contractor bids, sources, and installs it. If the project calls for a tighter, lower-profile look in a smaller space alongside the FDLO, the semi-flush mount decorative fixtures in the same category cover that without breaking the finish family.

Installation and Sourcing Notes

This is the section that actually matters once the fixture shows up on the truck. A few things worth knowing before you bid or install this one.

Mounting and retrofit fit

The FDLO is surface-mounted, ceiling-mounted with wire nuts and mounting screws included, and it lands over a standard octagon box. Because it is flush mount and not recessed, it drops in place of an existing flush fixture on a renovation without cutting the ceiling, which is the main reason this category gets specified for occupied-building corridor and common-area work over a recessed can. At 32.5 by 18.1 inches and built on an iron housing, it carries more weight than a typical plastic flush disc, so confirm the box and any blocking can support it, especially on a plaster or older lath ceiling where the existing box may not be rated for the load.

CCT and finish, locked in before ordering

CCT is field-selectable on install, meaning the electrician sets it with a switch or jumper on site rather than the factory. That takes the CCT decision off the ordering critical path; if the spec is still open on color temperature at the time material needs to be released, this fixture lets that call get made in the field instead of holding up the PO. Finish is not field-changeable. Matte black and brushed nickel are separate SKUs (FDLO-32-MCT5-BK and FDLO-32-MCT5-BN), so that decision has to be locked before the order goes in.

Factory-installed options

A menu of options is available, but they are factory-installed, not field-added. If the job needs any of these, they have to be called out on the PO up front:

  • Emergency battery backup (for corridors or common areas that pull double duty as egress path)
  • Button photocell for daylight-based control
  • 277V step-down transformer, for buildings running 277V branch circuits to common areas
  • Microwave occupancy sensor
  • Networked sensor integration (Keilton or Westgate NLS, depending on the building's control platform)

Pro Tip

TRIAC dimming on an LED DOB driver is not automatically compatible with every dimmer already in the wall. Before you commit to a dimming zone on a renovation, confirm the existing dimmer's minimum load and dimming curve against this fixture's driver, or budget for a dimmer swap. It is a five-minute check that avoids a flicker complaint after the punch list is closed.

Value Engineering and Spec Considerations

Where this fixture earns its place on a value-engineering conversation with the EC or the designer is SKU consolidation. A single field-selectable CCT model replaces what would otherwise be five separate CCT-specific SKUs, which cuts down on what has to be tracked, quoted, and potentially over-ordered for a multi-building or phased job. The dual IP44 dry-and-damp rating does the same thing on the location side, collapsing what might otherwise be two different fixture specs (interior dry-location and damp-location) into one.

Where This Helps a Bid

On a multi-building multifamily job with corridors in three different CCT ranges across phases, one field-selectable SKU means one line item and one lead time to track, instead of coordinating delivery of three or four separate CCT-specific parts across a phased schedule.

Get the FDLO Series Oval Flush Mount on the Job

The FDLO Series Oval Flush Mount is available through RelightDepot in matte black and brushed nickel finishes, with all five CCTs field-selectable (2700K to 5000K) on the same 48W DOB driver platform, so two SKUs cover the full color-temperature range. Factory-installed emergency battery backup, photocell, 277V transformer, and sensor options are available on both finishes, so whichever configuration a job calls for is in stock and ready to build to spec.

Our team works with electrical contractors and facility teams to support takeoffs, CCT and finish configuration questions, and lead-time questions across the FDLO line.
